My niece got married

We just attended my nieces wedding in Chester Springs, PA. It was a beautiful day. We're now doing some resting, touring and getting ready for West Yellowstone.

A Mud Sale in Amish country

My dear friend Kitty happened to be in one of the Pennsylvania Dutch delis yesterday when we arrived for lunch. It was a total surprise to run into her because she now lives near Baltimore. After catching up on a number of quilt topics she mentioned that a mud sale was scheduled for today. Even though I grew up nearby I was not familiar. I looked "mud sale" up on the Internet and learned they are usually held when the ground begins to thaw. The proceeds are to benefit local firehouses. So of course, I had to go. I was early enough to view most of the quilt goods. There were nursery items, antiques, tools, etc. this was the largest auction I have ever attended and it was loads of fun. There were about 200 Amish buggies parked and hundreds of cars. Being a quilters was most interested in the unfinished quilt tops. I had a grand time!

Balloons aloft

As we started the Que for our evening meal the hot air balloons began floating quietly by. It was a delightful sight. The day started with the Spring Steam up at the next door farm equipment museum. It's a new adventure here in Amish Country.

Wayne Art Center - art Quilt Elements Exhibit

Flanagan very much at home in PA

Beginning our summer vacation (or, six months traveling North America)

After a three day drive we are now at Roamers Retreat in Kinzers, PA. This is a quiet campground off the Lincoln Highway (old route 30) not far from Lancaster County. The drive was hit and humid on day one through the Carolina's. Although we had air conditioning during the drive we were quite uncomfortable for sleeping without it. Day two was a nice drive on interstates heading into the mountains. Day three was rainy, foggy and we were pleased when we pulled into our park around 6 pm. We set up and drove less than two miles to a diner for a quick and ordinary supper.

Today will be set up outside and getting my mobile sewing center arranged. I'm on a mission this summer to complete a number of projects. We'll see how that works out.

Still on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a lovely drive through the Appalachia's except for the dreary rain. At least the temps are moderate.

Must make some of these!

We're back in Florida but just long enough to head out to wedding #2. We're packing the motorhome for our summer adventures. We are looking forward to some more historic touring in Pennsylvania then to Yellowstone for several months. We expect to spend some time in Lincoln, Nebraska on the way west.

Our European adventure was great. The best part was seeing all the family together to celebrate Jaime's wedding. The second best thing was all the fabulous cakes and pastries we experienced. The photo of meringue cookies is from a food blog that I have forgotten to save link. I WILL make these!

We're home!

Here's a smattering of things I saw on our side trip to Vienna. I'm envious of the gal maneuvering her bicycle through the streets of this lovely city. She's my senior!
We have a lot of photos of our family and sightings from this adventure. I'll be sorting for a while.

Our RV adventures pick up soon with a drive from Florida to Pennsylvania via Appomattox. Stay tuned.
